✅ What We Like

• Free Version: Similar to other sites like EliteSingles, you can sign up to JDate and access the site for free. Features such as browsing and matching profiles, sending smiles, uploading photos, etc, are free.

• “Have You Met?”: This feature suggests 20 additional profiles that were not added to your regular matches. These profiles are suggested based on the results from the personality test you took while signing up. You’ll receive one profile at a time. If you like them, initiate contact by sending a direct message or a smile. If you don’t like the profile, click the X icon to move to the next profile.

• Detailed Profiles: Most of the profiles we found were very detailed. We could tell a lot about a person just by looking at their profile. This gives you enough information to decide if you want to match with them.

• Few Fake Profiles: We only came across a few fake profiles while scrolling through the sites. Our guess is that JDate gets rid of fake profiles as often as they can.
• No Ads on Free Version: Most sites show flashy and distracting ads on their free versions, but the case is different on JDate. We love how we didn’t encounter annoying ads while on a free account.

❌ What We Didn’t Like

• Poor Free Membership: You can only match and view profiles on a free account. Sending and receiving messages or seeing who viewed your profile requires a premium membership. 

• Outdated Interface: Although it is user-friendly, when compared to other dating sites like Match, it seems outdated.

📱 JDate on Mobile

The mobile version of JDate is as user-friendly as the desktop version. There’s also a mobile app available for both iOS and Android devices. You can access the same features from the desktop version while on the app.

We found navigation on the JDate mobile version to be seamless. You can access important sections of the site right from the dashboard at the top left corner of the screen.

🤔 How to Use JDate

We found the JDate site to be user-friendly, both on desktop and mobile versions. Now, we’ll show you how to become a JDate member and make matches. 

Registration 

The signup process on JDate is straightforward and takes about 7-10 minutes. There’s a personality test during the signup process. Although you can skip and do it later, we recommend completing this test so you can receive only the most compatible matches.

Here’s what you need to do:

• Open the JDate site on your device.
• Enter a valid email address and a password and click Next.

• You can also sign up with your Apple ID or Facebook account.

• Select your gender and what gender you’re looking for, and click Find Love Today.

• Next, tell them about yourself in the personality test. Enter your name, location, and date of birth.

• Next, describe your beliefs, if you keep kosher, attend synagogue, and your favorite holiday tradition.

• Enter the level of education and political ideology.

• Pick what describes you from the available options.

• Select at least one thing you’re excited about.

• Enter if you have children or not, and how you feel about having some in the future.

• Provide information about smoking and drinking habits, if any.

• You can provide details about your height.

• Enter the gender and type of relationship you’re looking for.

• Enter the age range you’re open to dating and what beliefs you’re looking for in a partner.

• Upload the best photo of yourself.

• Describe yourself in your own words, and answer questions like where you feel most at home, what makes you laugh, etc.

• Finally, your account is ready to use!

Making Matches

JDate matches members based on the results of the personality tests. Matching is mainly done in two ways:

• Mutual Match: The algorithm matches users with similar preferences and personality. If a profile fits into the description you entered while taking the personality tests, JDate will match you with that user.
• Discovery Preferences: JDate also suggests matches based on the preferences you set while signing up, for example age, height, and location. You can edit these preferences anytime you wish. Simply click on your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen.

You can make changes to different filters such as age, height, distance, faith, etc.

• Have You Met: This feature suggests 20 more profiles that were not added to your regular matches because they didn’t fit at least one of your Preferences. You can access this tool on the top dashboard in the desktop version. 

For the mobile version, it’s also available on the top dashboard.

Communicating With Your Matches

There are communication tools available for both free and paid users. The major communications tools are: 

• Messages: Only paid members can send and receive messages without limits. Free users can only send smiles to their matches or profiles they find attractive. 

• Smiles and Likes: These are the easiest and quickest ways to show your interest in a profile. Both free and paid can send Smiles and Likes.

• Comments: Paid members can comment on other members’ profiles and photos. This is another way to show interest and initiate conversation with a profile you like.

• Build Your Profile: We recommend taking the time to answer every question in the personality test so that you can get the best possible matches.

• Upload Quality Profile: Make sure the photos you upload are of the best quality. Choose clear and bright pictures that also highlight your best features.
• JDate Events: JDate hosts events at different times of the year. We recommend attending these events so you can meet more people in real life.

👥 General User Experience

We found JDate to be an easy-to-use platform. All sections are easy to find and navigate, which makes the experience more enjoyable. The white background makes texts easier to read. 

Another aspect we love is how detailed most profiles are. You can know so much about a particular user even without initiating contact with them. 

We also like both the desktop and mobile versions of JDate. However, the design could be better. It seems outdated when compared to other dating sites.

One improvement we would like to see is the inclusion of modern tools such as video chat and the ability to send gifts.

JDate prioritizes users’ safety by employing means to verify profiles. The site also mentions that each profile is reviewed by the customer care team.

JDate suggests signing up through your Apple ID and Facebook. They check these accounts to confirm if you’re who you claim to be. If you signed up via email, JDate will send an activation link for you to access the site. 

To protect users from fake profiles, JDate provides the option to report a profile or delete a match.
